Fresh Meat

For a while I've been wanting to post this image, which is from an anti-trafficking site in Denmark, and  which I think is so powerful.  I haven't posted it so far, because something bothers me about it.  The problem with it is, those who are trafficked are not primarily white women in their 20s, as these women appear to be.  Many, many women and girls of color are trafficked for sex, for work which amounts to slavery, in the mail-order bride trade.   It is still a powerful image, but I think what I have said needs to be said.

FYI – Whilst I appreciate the point you’re trying to make about trafficking in general, within Europe most trafficked women are from Eastern Europe and hence are white.

  3. Spicy, I agree, and that’s why I mentioned that the image was from an anti-trafficking site in Denmark (although I should have been more clear and appreciate your response.) I just think it’s important to make the point that worldwide, trafficked women are not predominantly white.
