The Blank Noise Project

Feminist women in Bangalore, Delhi and Bombay, India have organized a series of actions to combat street sexual harrassment ("eve teasing") which they have called The Blank Noise Project.  The project is the brainchild of Jasmeen Patheja and is a response to increasing rapes and violence against women protesting rape and street harassment.

Sometimes we just love to walk, stand around, hang around without looking "available."  Calling 30 women to participate in this street intervention.  This idea is really simple but we need numbers to make this work.  The plan:  30 or more women get onto the street and through a very simple act, we transform the nature of the place.

I am adding Blank Noise Project and Mangs to the Blogroll.  Mangs has an interesting blog entry about a recent interview of Naomi Wolf too.
