You’ll recall that I blogged about Estera Tamas, above, her sisters, and their terrorism at the hands of their “foster father,” Enrique Fabregas, here and here. Fabregas raped the sisters from the time they were three years old, in at least one instance, brutalized them, photographed himself raping and brutalizing them, urged them to shoplift, supplied them with drugs, then used the fact of their shoplifting and drug addictions to silence them when, on 28 separate occasions, he was reported to authorities. One reason he got away with all of this is, he pretended to be a conservative Christian and sang in the choir of a local megachurch. A pastor vouched for his character when he got custody of the girls, whose mother he had met in drug treatment.
These young women have now filed a $45 million claim against Washington state, accusing authorities of negligently letting the man be a foster parent, despite a criminal record and numerous complaints against him.
I hope they win. They deserve every last penny. And I continue to be amazed and in awe of their courage.
