  1. Yes, yes, yes. A Festival for Females (only).

A life changing experience of being amongst only those born female for a week.

Imo, every womon should have this experience.

I am so ready to be there.

Female, female, female. There, I said it.

  2. Nice music lineup this year! I’m sorry I’ll miss it.

  3. It’s a great lineup this year! I can’t wait to hear God Des and I’m hoping and betting Nedra will be singing Amazon this year since she’s on for Wednesday night. I’m excited to hear Cris Williamson again, too, and Melissa Ferrick, Staceyann Chinn, dang.

  4. I have never been to this… It sounds like I am really missing out too. Will someone post about this after attending and give a discription of what it was like?

  5. Holy mother of god/dess–What a lineup! Thank you Heart for posting this. I am so pysched!

A life changing experience of being amongst only those born female for a week.

Yes, exactly. And “lifechanging” is not just the first year–every year I go I can feel myself evolving, growing, changing. This experience is not to be missed. Seriously.

Imo, every womon should have this experience.

Yes yes yes–AND BRING YOUR DAUGHTERS! My daughter K has gone with me every year for the last 5 years–she’s 12. Her self esteem, her sense of herself, her inner strength, her self sufficiency–all have grown dramatically since we started going. I can’t begin to describe what this experience does for young girls. Michigan is also part of our daily conversations and reflection as we note the world around us–it gives us a frame of reference for discussing and understanding the “real world” and patriarchy. It is also something that we share with each other which helps create a deep bond that has brought us ever closer together.

I can’t imagine Michfest without her.

I am so ready to be there.

Come, sister, come. There is no obstacle not worth overcoming to be there–finances (they have worker programs and scholarships) distance (read the ride sharing board) fear (you will amaze yourself and never be as fearful again).

  6. Seriously, can you believe the lineup? It just seems so well thought out, and I don’t know, fun. Inspiring and fun. And you should have heard the hollerin’ around here when I read that Nedra was going to be on night stage.

It just feels (entirely subjectively, of course) that Festival is going to be amazing this year. Not that it isn’t always, but…ah, hell, I don’t know. Probably just me.
