First they ignore you, then they laugh at you, then they fight you, then you win. —Mahatma Gandhi
I have observed, with some satisfaction, I must say, that people who once thought they were soooo smart, and soooo funny, and soooo hip, and soooo progressive, and soooo enlightened, who at first tried to ignore us (“us” being radical feminists), seem to have now moved beyond laughing at us, which is the second stage, and seem now to be fighting us with everything that looks like a good weapon. Like lies. Like stalking us around the internet. Like threats. Like defamation. Like slander. I’m going to do what I need to do so far as those whose behaviors continue to cross the line. In the meantime, I am making the observation that once they fight you, winning is the next step. And heck yeah, I want to win. Of course, the win I’m really after is win/win– for all people, creatures, the earth, the skies. In the meantime, I think we can congratulate ourselves because we’ve made some good progress.
