Radical Seasons Greetings

greed2.jpg oaxaca2.jpg

Left:  “This year, we’ll stop the grinches!” —California grocery workers
Right: “Celebrate resistance & solidarity in the new year!” — Drawing from the Oaxaca rebellion

“Tis the season!”

The cards above and three others are available here for $9.00 per box of six, click on “Order”, then “Cards”.   If you’re one who sends out holiday cards, try these!   And I also think Chloe or some of you other creative, artistic types should create radical feminist cards like this for all of us to send!

  1. I don’t send out cards but it’s mostly because there are none available that say something I believe is worth saying. Maybe some of these cards you suggest would be better…. or, as you say, some of the more artistic among us can come up with something.

  2. Yeah, thailandchani. What I like about the three I posted there is, they are about very serious issues of concern to all radical people but they manage to be positive and inspiring anyway. I’d love to see us create some radfem cards in the same spirit.

  3. I would be ready to try my hand on osme, but maybe thailandchani can tell me what she would like them to say, just as an inspirational starting point 🙂

  4. Oooh, Jokerine, I’d like to contribute a few ideas too. I will think about it on my way to work. 🙂

  5. How about we ask Sparkle if we can have some Phemi Christmas cards. Phemi could polish of the patriarchy along with her Christmas dinner.

How about Santa pointing at his empty sleigh. Caption.
    He wanted to be robbed

Or Santa pointing accusingly at his elf. Caption.
He said he was robbed, but it’s just one gnomes word against another.

  6. What about an old photo of Emmeline Pankhurst, or Alice Paul with holly superimposed in a corner, or around the border. The caption.

Every little girl wants a Heroine for Christmas.

If someone had the skills, a whole series could be done, commemorating all our great heroines. From Sappho and Penthesilea, to Dworkin and Daly, and why not Heart and Twisty.
A small explanation of their exploits could be included on the back.

  7. Helzeph, what a great idea! I want to do this! Or I want Jokerine or somebody else to do it!

This would be the coolest thing!

You always have great ideas like this.

And how come we got diverted from our project of the New Jersey 4 T-shirts?

  8. I was hoping that Chloe’s poster would go out on cafepress. Then all their supporters would be able to buy t shirts and mugs, to keep them in mind. If cafepress is unethical ? I still think getting this issue across is more important.

  9. Yeah, helzeph, I’m inclined to agree with you. In fact, the day we talked about it a while back, whenever that was, I created a shop. It is here:

I have endless imagination to add all sorts of stuff to it, too!

  10. I have just purchased three mugs, doesn’t the image look great on t shirts and totes, has Chloe seen them.
Should the 7 be changed to 4 now?.

How about a Snow Woman card. A sort of snow Willendorf with a jaunty cap, shawl and piece of holly , or just as she is.

  11. I think the shirts are beautiful! I did e-mail Chloe about the shop at the time– I think we were both discouraged by someone saying Cafe Press is misogynist? And so nothing came of our discussion at the time. Chloe, you there? 🙂 What do you think of your gorgeous creation on those shirts and hoodies! And mugs!

I think we should have shirts with the “4” on them, definitely, I should change that or add those (because I sort of like remembering ALL of the women who were arrested initially, seven in all, though only 4 are in prison now). I haven’t checked into all the way it works in a while with Cafe Press. One thing I don’t like is, stuff is pretty pricey. But we could say that all of the proceeds would go to whatever cause, like to the New Jersey 4, their kids, etc. Whatever cause we highlight, if there are proceeds, the money could go to that cause.

Snow Willendorf card with holly/cap/shawl! Love it! Cafe Press lets you make cards as well, also calendars and all sorts of stuff.

  12. Obviously, Chloe, you have the final voice on everything around the stuff with your artwork on it. I think you should get a cut of anything sold with the artwork you’ve created, it is really beautiful.

  13. I love those. They’re awesome. =D
